On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the entry into force of the Antarctic Treaty, the Saxony District of DARC e.V. in cooperation with Gianni, I1HYW, is publishing this award.
The Antarctic Treaty is an international agreement that stipulates that the uninhabited Antarctic between 60 and 90 degrees south latitude is reserved exclusively for peaceful use, especially scientific research. The treaty was deliberated by twelve signatory states at the 1959 Antarctic Conference in Washington and entered into force in 1961. It has great political significance because it was the first international treaty after the end of the Second World War to set out the principles of peaceful coexistence between states with different social orders.
Award conditions
The award can be obtained by all licensed radio amateurs. To apply for the diploma 60 points with a minimum of 3 different special event stations must be reached, including one online station. Each QSO with a 60ANT special station counts 5 points per band and mode. Modes of operation for the purpose of this diploma are CW, PHONE (SSB, FM, Digital Voice), DIGIHIS (RTTY, PSK, Hell) and DIGITAL (FT8, FT4 ). Contacts between 01.06.2021 and 31.12.2021 count.
To promote special modes, the diploma is additionally issued for QSO’s in CW and in RTTY / PSK. This also requires 60 points from at least 3 special stations for each award.
The award is free of charge and can only be applied for on this website. Award applications on this website and the download of the diplomas are possible until 31.12.2022.

The online stations will regularly load their QSO’s onto a database and these QSO’s will be automatically transferred to the diploma application. QSO’s with offline stations must be entered on the website (GCR list).
After checking the GCR list, the link to download the diploma will be sent by mail.
